Hi! I’m a mod on this wiki! You probably see me around quite a bit.
I’ve been editing on the Octonauts wiki for two years, and it’s been my goal to make this place one with the most accurate information about the franchise, allowing newcomers to have a seamless introduction to the shows, movies, characters, etc.!
However, I’ve had a long term problem with one aspect of the wiki in particular that I’ve been meaning to fix, but I need to know some thoughts from you guys.
As you know, the original Octonauts show first premiered on CBeebies back in 2010, with all other countries, including North America, following much later. It’s also quite commonly know that the order the episodes were aired in on CBeebies originally is quite different from the episode order on Netflix! As such, the episode orders for Seasons 1 to 4 on their wiki pages are modelled after the original UK airings, and not what appears on Netflix.
Here’s the problem, though. As important as it may be to preserve the original airdates and episode order from the UK...it’s currently not being preserved well. The airdates listed on the episodes are outdated, some episodes are missing from the list on the pages for various seasons, and even the 22 minute specials aren’t given a proper place.
I don’t want to neglect the importance of working to retrieve the correct original UK airdates for all the episodes, but if it’s alright with other mods or UK Octonauts fans, I don’t think the airdates should dictate the order listed on the articles for Seasons 1 to 4 anymore.
Practicality is important, and that means adapting to what is most accessible for new Octonauts fans currently. The Netflix episode order is one I’d like to reference when listing all the episodes down instead, as that’s what most people nowadays are familiar with. Furthermore, it already ensures that the continuity between episodes, specials, and movies are correct and match up with what the streaming service entails.
TLDR; The articles for the Seasons and episodes in Seasons 1 to 4 are very disorganized currently, and instead of ordering them via their UK airdates, I’d like to order them via what’s listed on Netflix, whilst still keeping the OG airdates preserved if I can find them all. Is that okay with everyone, or are there objections/questions?
