They also has a big tail fluke.
Personality[]
All the Blue Whales seen throughout the series are kind gentle giants, and they know how to survive their surroundings and across the oceans. Though, they don't seem to have the confidence to not-give up whenever something bad happens to them, they have quite amount of advantages due to their large size and strength. Like the Whale Shark, the Blue whale are kind, sweet, and do seem to show that they are nice and passive creatures. The other mistakes they make is getting confused when their sounds are messed up, and they do not know how to travel well without their sounds.
Overview[]
In The Mixed Up Whales, in their first debut. Kwazii meets a blue whale for the first time that he accidently bumped into by the waves he was making, then he begans looking for his friend after realizing his sonar noise was not working properly, the other friend was also looking for him too, but her noise was not working either, they try to find each other. But they don't realize, he and his friend were going to crash into the Octopod due to the lack of loud sounds they were making, and the sounds from the octopod due to repairs and cleanups, Kwazii tried to stop them but wasn't very successful. Luckily the sounds have stopped in time, giving the whales a chance to stop before they could crash into the octopod, then the whales and Octonauts say that next time they check for whales before they do any loud banging or clanging.
In The Narwhal as soon as Boris rescues the Octonauts and the Octopod out of the icy chunks. Some Blue Whales can be seen swimming in the background while the Octopod are slowly traveling across.
In The Cookiecutter Sharks, One blue whale was being tickled by some Cookiecutter Shark bite marks on his blubber, luckily he got out in time so he wouldn't feel any more tickles. As the blue whale got out, it swam out of the area, as the Octonauts held onto his large back flipper, a crab and urchin on a rock was waving at them while they were swimming across.
In The Lost Sea Star, while Barnacles, Kwazii, Peso, were helping a young sea-star named Twinkle find her home, a blue whale can be seen swimming in the background of the coral reef, in the sunlight zone scene.
In The Great Penguin Race, a blue whale was swimming with some other sea animals in the first scene, he accidently carries the Iron Clam and Hugo and Peso grab it, when the Whale reached up for air, Peso and Hugo were arguing and fighting over the Iron Clam when all the sudden the blowhole spouts up water and air sending Peso and Hugo flying up into the sky, this spout causes an Albatross flying over the whale and his spout to grab the iron clam, sending Hugo and Peso flying in the air, later in the swimming contest, he cheers for Peso and Hugo, when he suddenly caused a big accident that trapped Hugo and Peso into big chunks of ice, but luckily the Octonauts were able to get them out in time. At the end of the great penguin race, when everyone was cheering on the surface, the same blue whale was cheering underwater with the other animals, such as a beluga whale, orca whale, some fish, and a narwhal. Somewhat after the great penguin race, it's likely left the Antarctic, back into it's home, likely the Pacific or Atlantic ocean.
In The Octonauts and The Manatees, Captain Barnacles, still having his arm stuck to a giant clam, landed on a blue whale with the clam. Soon after, the blue whale's flipper threw Captain Barnacles onto a abandoned pirate ship.
In The Lion's Mane Jellyfish a blue whale is pictured on the computer.
In The Sea Sponge episode, when Barnacles, Peso, Kwazii, the Sea Sponge, and Shellington were searching for a sperm whale for a sickened whale louse in the sponge who were both not feeling well, the first whale they spotted was a blue whale, however, Shellington said that it was the wrong whale.
In Season 5, The Bluefin Tuna episode, while transporting Tina the Tuna to her school, the Octonauts saw a massive pod of blue whales, one of the whales warned the Gup R to get out of the way, thankfully they swam away in time before they crashed into the pod.
Throughout the Episode of The Crafty Cuttlefish, in Kwazii's spooky pirate story, it appears the creepy monster of the creepy cove are capable of blowing into the size of 3 blue whales. Though luckily, the sea monster was not real.
In the Oarfish Episode, in Kwazii's story, talking about the Nackerwhack, a massive sea monster that is the same size of 3 Blue Whales. Luckily, the sea monster was never considered to be real.
In Season 5, The Blue Whale Rescue. One morning Kwazii woke up to a mysterious bellow, then soon he launches from the Octopod and discovers an injured blue whale. Kwazii asks him what problem he has. But the whale bellows accidently loudly, flying Kwazii and the Gup B off balance. Then the Blue Whale says he's been calling for help for hours because of his injured tail fluke. The Whale's name is Wendell, soon Kwazii sounds the octo alert after Wendell decline's Kwazii's help because he is so small. After gathering the whole crew in the Launch Bay and explaining what is going on, Kwazii pops up on the screen. He explains the situation, soon after, Wendell is starting to get Exhausted, then Kwazii re-contacts the crew but the crew mention that they are working on the last octo float attaching it onto the net as fast as they could. Soon, Wendell gives up and starts falling down but is rescued by the Octonauts using the Octo Floats and the big nets attached to them. Then Kwazii and the other Octonauts explains the help he is going to get. Then in the meantime, Kwazii and the others began to search for a big swarm of krill deep in the sea for Wendell to eat so it can build up his strength. Soon after feeding Wendell, Tweak and Peso arrive with a mechanical tail. As soon as they strap it on Wendell gets a second snack but is not paying attention because he is not holding still for Peso to screw the bolts into the Mechanical tail, but then the net begins ripping apart completely due to his heavy weight, and began to fall downwards. The Octonauts begin chasing after him, while Peso refuses to leave him and continues screwing the bolts. Tweak tries to pull Wendell up to the surface by the net, but he is too heavy. Soon the net rips apart and catches Peso off Wendell. Soon as Wendell is falling towards the deep ocean trench, he starts to give up again and begins to say his last words. Then Kwazii flew into the rescue and began to screw the bolts again, Barnacles catches Peso and then Wendell and Kwazii fall into the deep ocean trench. The Octonauts worry, thinking that they were gone. Wendell and Kwazii suddenly come out of the ocean trench happily, and the Octonauts are glad to see them alright. After that Wendell thanks Kwazii and begins testing out the mechanical tail. Then he races Kwazii and himself to the nearest kelp forest as the octonauts watch them swim into the deep ocean blue.
In The Whales of Mystery, though not given much of an Appearance. A blue whale's white silhouette can be seen on the screen while trying to match the spade tooth Shellington found from a mysterious animal.
Trivia[]
- Although they are very gentle, they caused a little bit of turbulence to the Octopod while Captain Barnacles and the Octonauts were causing a riot with their repairs and cleanups by messing with their sonar. Thankfully the noise had stopped in time to make the whales swerve away.
- Blue whales are in fact bigger than a human being and bigger than a whale shark.
- A single blue whale eats up to 40 million krill every day.
- They are the largest animal in creature report and in the series even bigger than the Colossal Squid.
- Each blue whale calf is about the size of a full-grown elephant.
- Despite being the largest animals in the Octonauts, they are shorter in contrast and size model to the colossal squid, it is unknown why this happened, the creators may have accidentally made the model bigger, or built it too big.
- They are actually very bright pale blue in real life, as they are very blue underwater, on the surface they are actually very light white-ish pale blue, this is probably due to the sun glowing on it's skin, reflecting back on the water's surface.
