Boris is a narwhal. He has known Captain Barnacles ever since he was a young cub growing up at the North Pole in the Arctic. They even sing the same song together at the end of the episode, "The Narwhal". When the Octopod was frozen, Boris used his tusk to find the thinnest part of the ice to help the Octonauts. When Kwazii saw the Narwhal for the first time, he thought he was a deep-sea unicorn. He speaks with a Russian accent.
