The Octonauts and the Ring of Fire is a film based on Meomi's hit show The Octonauts. The film is centered around the Octonauts embarking on their most dangerous mission yet: to explore the Pacific Ocean, rescue the creatures affected by tsunamis & volcanic eruptions, and protect the ocean from the volcanic activity of the Ring of Fire. It was originally going to be released in China on October 1, 2020, but it was delayed due to the release of Caves of Sac Actun and Great Barrier Reef. It was eventually released in China on January 8, 2021, and was released on Netflix worldwide on March 30, 2021.

Plot[]

The Ring of Fire, a series of volcanoes that lay both above water and below around the Pacific, sees a large eruption from one of its many volcanoes. This causes further volcanoes to erupt, which in turn create tremors along the sea floor, tsunami waves, and other miscellaneous types of trouble which disturb the creatures and plants living around them. While this is happening, all of the Octonauts have split up to do their own assignments. Dashi and Shellington search for an Omuras Whale. Peso, Captain Barnacles, and Inkling stay aboard the Octopod, heading towards Peso's cousins, the Chinstrap Penguins. Tunip, Grouber, Barrot, Tominnow and Codish all stay behind to continue harvesting their seaweed farm. And Tweak and Kwazii have head off to the repair station, to check up on all of the Gups' engines, leaving them all to use the recently made Z-Gups (the Z-1, Z-2, Z-3, Z-4, and the Z-5). They are unaware of the danger that lurks ahead. But when tremors and eruptions begin, the communications are cut off, and everyone is forced to deal with their own separate situations. In their journey to escape the dangers and reunite with each other, they saved, and gained assistance from many creatures, including the now beached Omura's Whale (Shellington and Dashi were looking for it), their old friends the Coconut Crabs, the Chinstrap Penguins, and the unsuspecting creatures living near and in one last giant volcano.

Trivia[]

  • The Coconut Crabs make their third appearances in the franchise. They also meet Dashi and Shellington for the first time as well.
  • The crab and urchin from Season 1 also reappear in this movie.
  • Training videos were seen for the second time, the first happening in the Very Vegimal Christmas. They are a key factor in the film, as most of them helped remind everyone about how to deal with different situations.
  • The Gup-R, a Gup that is supposed to debut in the Season 5 episode, The Blufin Tuna, was shown in a short scene in the Octo-Repair Station.
  • It is revealed that Kwazii has been practicing on Polar Bear strength, as he used it to save Tweak.
  • Moral #1: Sometimes You just have to work with what you got. (As seen with Tweak and from Omura's whale)
  • Moral #2: In times like this, we've all got to help each other.
  • It released a day earlier before another action film: Godzilla Vs. Kong.
  • This is the third (and, presumably last) Octonauts film released on Netflix.
  • Due to Sarah Faust and Helen Walsh taking over the roles of the Vegimals in Above & Beyond, this movie marks Michael C. Murphy’s final time fully voicing the Vegimals. From this point onwards, his performance is only rarely heard through reused audio.
  • Multiple references to the 1980s were made throughout the movies runtime, including a reference to the Commodore 64. When Tweak and Kwazii go to reboot the repair station’s computer system, you can briefly see LOAD “*” ,8 ,1, a reference to the Commodore 64.
  • During the opening, you can see what appears to be a V8/V6 engine inside of the Gup-B.
  • Peso's xylophone makes its first reappearance since the Season 1 episode, The Beluga Whales.
