Gups are special underwater submarine-like vehicles that the Octonauts use. There are currently 26 Gups (not including the so called "Terra Gups" from Octonauts: Above and Beyond) known in Octonauts, but not all of them have been seen. Most have appeared in the episodes and specials of the series, and at least 5 have appeared in the two movies (The Underwater Caves of Sac Actun, Octonauts and the Great Barrier Reef, and The Octonauts Movie: The Ring of Fire).

Gups

Gup-A - a multi-purpose vehicle and is Captain Barnacles' favorite. Its speed is moderate, but it has a turbo booster that can make it go almost as fast as the Gup-B. It is used in almost all missions. It's also been seen with other disguises in the toys and the episode The Decorator Crab. It's based on an angler fish.

Gup-B - a shark-styled Gup with one seat. Known for its fast speed and acceleration, it is Kwazii's favorite Gup. He mainly uses it for a lot of the missions the Octonauts go on. Other times, he will use it to race other creatures who love a good challenge. In some episodes, some creatures mistake it for a real shark and get scared. It includes a tiger shark disguise, flying fish mode, and a turbo booster.

Gup-B (Barracuda even though based on shark)

Gup-C - a large Gup, based on a Blue Whale, with a large towline. This is the only Gup Shellington can pilot safely. The towline is for pulling Gups out of wedged objects. The window at the top is used for the icebreaker attachment.

Gup-D - a medium-sized Gup with retractable arms and legs. It's designed to do construction work. With its legs out, it looks like a crab, but with its legs in, it looks like a manta ray. The Gup-D is Tweak's favorite Gup. Also, this Gup is probably the one Shellington is the worst at piloting. He has crashed it three times.

Gup-E - an emergency Gup that is able to carry a fish in the back of it. It is Peso's go-to Gup, but others use it too. When Peso drives it, he tends to switch it to medical emergency mode. Shellington crashed this Gup in The Immortal Jellyfish. It is based on a regular fish.

Gup-F - a pedal-powered Gup, based on an X-ray fish. It was the first Gup Tweak ever built. Although it is also the slowest one, it was helpful when there was no other Gup to use, like in the episode "The Speedy Sailfish". It was destroyed by the first part of a hurricane in the episode "The Artificial Reef". It was then turned into an artificial reef to protect the creatures who lived in a small reef which was also destroyed by the hurricane.

Gup-G - a Gup based on a salamander. It appears in the episode The Yangtze River The Chinese giant salamander episode. More on that here. It will appear in Season 5. It has early screenings in Octonauts and The Caves of Sac Actun. It has retractable legs that expand to help it stand and walk on land and contract to move fast through the water. The mouth can open up and act as a way to enter or exit the ocean or land. It is able to fit everyone inside. Using its mouth, it can also release certain Gups.

Gup-H - a Gup that first appears in the episode "The Poison Dart Frogs." It is built to look like a dragonfly, to soar above the sea, and watch the animals that hop in and out of the water, an amazing sight to see! It has also been made as a toy. It also appears in "The Baby Sea Turtles" and will make another appearance in Season 5 (unconfirmed). It also was seen in "The Caves of Sac Actun" when it crashed. It returns in Octonauts: Above & Beyond, and is used on a few search missions like in The Arabian Camels when Barnacles and Peso used it to search for Paani the Monkey when he got lost in the desert after a sandstorm.

Gup-I - a mobile ice research station, based on a Water Bear, built for extremely low temperature environments. The design is taken from Professor Natquik's old ice research station. Tweak took about 8 weeks to build it.. It has legs that can make the Gup taller, in case the snow is too high. On the Interior it has a hot-coco machine, and a way to communicate with Tracker, another polar bear scout working with the Octonauts, specifically Captain Barnacles.

Gup-J - a relatively new Gup that is kind of like a hydro scooter. Only the toy Gup Speeder has been made. Theory has been set to it appearing in the series.

Gup-K - The Gup-K was invented by Tweak. It is half swamp boat and half tank. Barnacles drove the Gup-K in The Great Swamp Search to save the Everglades from a wildfire. Its design was based on an alligator and/or a crocodile. Tweak had the idea for this Gup since she was a little bunny. Her father, Ranger Marsh, tends to call it a big, noisy hunk of junk, mainly because he did not understand her way with her "gadgets and gizmos". Though, he came to understand it's use and found it quite enjoyable to ride in, especially when it went underwater in The Nine Banded Armadillo.

Gup-L - The Gup-L is like a hovercraft. Other than that there is not much known about it. Only the Gup Speeder toy has been released.

Gup-M - an upcoming Gup. Not much is known about it. The toy has already been made. It stands for Mudskipper and Motorcycle. It was featured in "The caves of sac actun.

Gup-G (Unknown)

Gup-N - The Gup-N is an upcoming Gup. Nothing is known about it. It has only been seen on the Octonauts Gup Alphabet Chart with a question mark as the picture.

Gup-O - is an upcoming Gup. It is featured in the books and the toy has already been released. There is a slight glimpse of it on Tweak's Octo-Tablet during the Great Swamp Search, as she scrolls through the Gups deployment menu. Also, a sort of construction plan for the Gup-O has appeared in the Gup-S in The Over and Under Adventure.

Gup-P - inspired by the parrotfish, the GUP-P is a specialized, first responder emergency vehicle. with a simple press of the tail, this versatile Gup transforms into a medical station – equipped with an Octo x-ray viewer – where Kwazii can treat the parrotfish and transport it to safety. It can also make huge jets of bubbles.

Gup-Q - a Gup modeled after the Hammerhead Shark designed for ultimate search and rescue missions. It first appears in The Underwater Caves of Sac Actun. Dashi and Kwazii used it to travel into the caves to rescue Barnacles, Peso, and Coba. It has sonar mapping and guide ropes for cave exploration. The eyes of the Gup can release and become Gup-Q Scooters for traveling into small crevasses that the large Gup cannot fit in. Then there is piranha mode where the tail of the gup becomes a separate vehicle and can chomp through even the largest rocks.

Gup-R - an upcoming Gup. It is built to look like a sailfish. The toy has already been made. As the Kwazii toy comes with it, it is possible that it may become Kwazii's new favorite Gup in Season 5. It has already appeared in Octonauts Above and beyond as the gup Calico Jack and Kwazii use on missions. It will appear in The Blufin Tuna and The Wood Eating Catfish in Season 5.

Gup-S - a compound Gup, much like the Gup-X. Its main feature is that it splits into two, with one section that can travel on land, and the other that can travel in water. It is an Antarctic exploration vehicle first seen in the 6th special episode, The Over and Under Adventure. It also has an Ice Drill that can be heated to get through thick ice. It has snow treads to stay on the ice as it's falling, as they were used in Operation Deep Freeze to rescue the Gup I or as it was known at that time the Ice Research Station as it was falling into an ice chasm.

Gup-T - It was built after a sea pig, and is a rescue rover. It is probably going to be used for seafloor or land traveling hence the wheels.

Gup-U - an upcoming Gup. The toy is made already by fisher-price. Not much information is known about this Gup at the moment. Though based on the picture. It looks like it's based on a frogfish.

Gup-V - a Gup made by Tunip and the Vegimals in A Very Vegimal Christmas. It is a long train-like underwater submersible. They used it to rescue the rest of the crew when they were engulfed in an enormous Snot Blob. It includes a rope shooter which was used to pulled the crew out of the snot blob and a vacuum which was used to suck up the blob and then squirt it into the Brine lake.

Gup-W - a Gup that seems to be a large mobile hospital for Peso. The Gup-W has first been released in animation form in Season 5 and in a feature-length film. Also due to Octonauts and the Great Barrier Reef, we have learned that it has some medical Octo-bots, the Nurse-bot, and the Bandage-bot. Inside the mouth of the Gup-W, there are bubble filters and an entrance/exit for the Gup-P.

Gup-X - a strong Gup that can fit all of the Octonauts and Vegimals. It is built to look like a horseshoe crab and it was also a Christmas present from Tweak for Captain Barnacles as it made its debut in The Great Christmas Rescue. Tweak also calls it the strongest Gup, as it is able to withstand the heaviest of rocks falling on it.

Gup-Y - an upcoming Gup. It is modeled after the yeti crab. It may be a deep-sea excavation Gup that may work around the Deep Sea Octolab in the Mariana Trench. Not much more is known about it. The toy has already been made.

Gup-Z - a Gup in the movie, The Ring of Fire. It's A-5, which means almost everyone can use it. The trailers state that it is the ultimate Gup used to rescue sea creatures from erupting undersea volcanoes. It is built to look like a Mantis Shrimp or a Vent shrimp.. The 3 parts are: Vent shrimp, Mantis Shrimp and the 5 smaller Gups.

In Octonauts: Above & Beyond, new types of gups called Terra Gups are built to go onto land and help creatures from the mountains, forests, and other biomes from beyond the sea. But instead of letters, they count the Terra-Gups and order them by numbers.
