The Gup-A is a multi-purpose vehicle based on an anglerfish and it is one of the most used Gups in the Main Series. Its speed is moderate, but it has a turbo booster can make it go almost as fast as the Gup-B (as seen in The Giant Whirlpool). It is one of the only Gups that appear in the books with a fairly consistent design before the 2010 TV show’s release.

Trivia[]
- The Gup-A is the first Gup to debut in the entire franchise, making its first appearance in The Octonauts & the Only Lonely Monster, and with a design that doesn’t showcase any dramatic differences when compared to the TV show model.
- It has made only one debut so far in Above and Beyond Season 1, in The Hurricane Hunter Adventure, when Barnacles had to save a crashed Octoray, as well as Paani, Dashi, and Tweak, under the sea.
- The Gup-A has a lamp to see underwater like an anglerfish does.
