Kelp cakes are foods commonly as cakes made out of kelp. Aside from fish biscuits, the Vegimals love to make these, too. Kelp cakes are eaten as a meal more commonly than anything else, as the crew doesn't seem to get sick of them.

There are 27 flavors of Kelp cakes in The Octonauts Explore the Great Big Ocean book, including classic kelp, apple, chocolate, miso, Neapolitan, burger, peppermint, cactus, and much more. Not all flavors are in the book though, there are a few that only appear in the TV show. They also have effects when eaten as well. The only known effect is the apple kelp cake, which grants a strength boost for the vegimals. It is unknown if the effects work on the other Octonauts.
