Octonauts: Journey to China is a new animated spinoff series that follows the Octonauts and their trip to China. Season 1 was released on January 26th, 2024 in China, with 3 episodes premiering each day. Season 2 premiered on February 7th, 2025.

On January 4th, 2024, a group of 9 images were posted to the Official Octonauts Weibo account. Shortly after, a trailer was released by several Chinese platforms. On January 10th, the Chinese release date was announced. Shortly after, a second, more informative trailer was released. On January 22nd, it was revealed that 3 episodes would air each day, starting on Friday, January 26th.

Season 2 was announced on January 8th, 2025, with a 45-second trailer being published the following day, all through the popular Chinese platform, Weibo. As per news articles and promotion posts, the season is set to be centered around the Chinese "Huizhou" culture, focusing on its traditional food, activities, and customs. The Gup-A, Gup-E, Gup-H, TG-1, TG-5 and TG-7 are among some of the vehicles that return in the season.

The series introduced 5 new characters in its first season. This includes a Red Squirrel* stated to be an environmental inspector, a Panda stated to be an ecological ranger, a Clouded Leopard stated to be a wildlife guard/protector, a small Red Panda** stated to be Min's younger sister, and a young Mongolian Prairie Wolf.

In its second season, 3 new characters have been introduced. The first, whose name translates to Hua Zi, is stated to be a wilderness survival expert. The second is stated to be a Monkey, and goes by the name "Monkey Master". The third character has only been seen in a trailer, with their name and identity yet to be confirmed.

New Gups were also introduced. The Gup-C1 & C2 are currently the only new Gups, both of which were introduced in Season 1. It currently Remains Unknown if This Series will Be released In English.

  • Strangely, Min has made no appearances in recent promotion images and trailers. Therefore, it is unknown whether or not she will appear in this series.
  • The Gups introduced in this series are called Gup-Cs. It is unknown whether the "C" stands for China, or something else.
  • The Octonauts travel to Space for the first time.
  • All 5 new characters in Season 1 become Octo-Agents.
  • Calico Jack appears in this series.
  • The Gup-A, Gup-H, Gup-M, Gup-R, TG-1 and TG-2 make appearances in this series.
  • This is the second time the Gup-A has made an appearance since Octonauts Season 5.
  • Unlike the past 5 seasons in China, for this series' first season, 3 episodes aired each day on Chinese television instead of 2.
  • Additionally, there is an unknown Gazelle character featured in an image with Tweak. The unknown character is also seen chasing Kwazii in a trailer.
  • In new character (Hua Zi)'s debut episode, it is stated that he is Red Squirrel, Ayuguli's cousin.
