Pangolins are scale-covered mammals that live in underground burrows in Africa and are nocturnal, so they come out only at night. As most mammals have fur, they're the only mammals with thick, sharp scales on their bodies. They have sharp claws for digging in the ground to hunt for bugs, like termites. And when they cannot get close enough, they use their long, sticky tongues to reach into tight spaces.
Encounter with the Octo-Agents[]
One day, in Above and Beyond Season 1: The Monster Digger, Paani fell into her burrow when he was dodging some lightning on a rainy night, resulting in his foot getting hurt and accidentally scaring her without him noticing. He, Peso, and Tweak encountered her when Tunip and the TG-1 fell down a cliff that was weak from the rain, and Tunip got caught trapped in a pile of rocks. Peso got scared at first, thinking she was a monster, as they both shared a scream, but Paani was able to recognize her species. She was curious as to why they all were up in the middle of the night wondering if they must be nocturnal too. Tweak pointed out that Tunip was stuck under the rocks, and the pangolin used her claws to dig him out. When another rockslide occured, the pangolin grabbed Tunip and rolled into a big ball to protect him. Tweak was able to use the Terra Gup to dig them out and nobody got hurt. She was then hungry for bugs, so Paani offered her some of his famous Paani Patties, which just so happen to be made of dried bugs, to eat and showed her super long tongue to everyone, thus making her the second character to enjoy his treats. At sunrise, Tunip hugged her and she went back into her den to sleep.
