Paolo is a hoatzin who only appears in the Above & Beyond episode; "The Rainforest Rescue." He lives in the Amazon rainforest and is friends with Adriana the giant anteater.
Background[]
Paolo and Adriana met Min when the three tended to Junior, a baby Harpy Eagle, after he had fallen out of his nest. He tried encouraging the eaglet to climb back up the tree like him, but this wasn't possible due to Junior suffering a leg injury and, due to Harpy Eagles not being good climbers. The group was separated after a confrontation with a hungry jaguar.
While ascending a tree in the Terra-Gup 5, Paolo was found hiding in the understory by the Octonauts. He explained that the jaguar had scared him up the wrong tree and that he is unable to fly to his nest. The Octonauts used the Terra-Gup to form a bridge, allowing Paolo to climb back to his home tree.
After the Tree Frog Tadpoles hatch, Paolo is seen falling from his tree and onto a puddle to soak in. He then says hi to the tadpoles.

- Paolo stated to have fallen out of his nest twice a week when he was a baby.
- His voice is similar to that of Guillermo, from The Caterpillar Caravan.
- He is the fourth previously introduced creature friend to return in Above & Beyond. The first three were Phil the baby flamingo in The Nine Banded Armadillo, and Spiny Sue and Ronnie, Donnie & Lonnie in The Monitor Lizards.
- In addition, he is the first who debuted in A&B to return.
- Notably, Paolo, Captain Barnacles and Kwazii all appear to know each other, despite having them never interacting with each other in his debut episode.
