Sea skaters are tiny insects that have intricate hairs on their legs. These hairs accumulate bubbles, which makes them float. The females are bigger than the males. The skaters in a pond, which is very common, are called water striders. Sea skaters can also form bubbles around themselves before going underwater, which gives them air when they are about to go underwater. However, they don't breathe air, just like all insects, though there is an obvious difference about sea skaters and regular insects. They can walk on water, something other insects are unable to do. They also love to eat phytoplankton.
