Selva is a character exclusively in Octonauts: Above & Beyond. She is an iguana, and her occupation is a botanist. She is extremely sweet and caring, especially towards plants, with her often referring to them as her 'friends'. Additionally, she gets along quite well with the Vegimals, and is able to understand and talk to them in Vegimalese. She made her debut in Above and Beyond Season 3 as a new Octo-Agent who will work alongside the Octonauts and other Octo-Agents going forward.
Appearance[]
Selva's skin is a turquoise blue, with a lighter marking around her mouth, and darker markings on top and sides of her head, as well as her tail. She has four orange spikes starting atop her head and running along the back of it, and in a gradient transitioning from yellow to orange. Her tail is also turquoise blue near the bottom of it, with the top covered in more orange spikes. Her outfit consists of an orange short-sleeved shirt underneath dark teal overall-shorts with a leaf symbol in the middle of it, along with a pair of blue glasses. She also wears a brown belt on her waist, with a sleeve to hold her trowel, followed by brown boots.

- She is the second character introduced and exclusive to Above & Beyond (aside from Paani, and excluding any characters who debuted prior to their English Season 5 introductions).
- Without taking the regular creatures into account, Selva is also the second character to have no prior connection to any of the main Octonauts or Octo-Agents when they first encounter her. This also applied to Paani when Above & Beyond began.
- There is a current fan-theory that she may know some details about the Vegimals’ origins as a species, a question that could not be properly answered in the Meomi book “The Octonauts Explore the Great Big Ocean”.
- Selva is the second character design to have eyelashes, the first being Min.
- In Spanish, the word "Selva" translates to jungle/forest/plants, potentially a nod to her botanist occupation.
- This also makes sense as a nod to her character’s Latin-American identity.
- This has now been confirmed, but it is unknown what her specific country of origin is.
- In her debut episode, Selva states that she can understand Vegimalese upon first meeting them. It’s unknown how, but she comments that “she’s talked to plants for years”, though nothing like what the Vegimals are.
- Selva has the frequent tendency to call everyone (including people, plants, fruit, and other objects) her friends.
- According to IMDb, Selva is voiced by Elena Saurel.
- Sometimes, if people look at Selva mistakenly, people can often mistake her of resembling a chicken, despite being an Iguana, most likely due to her beak-like-mouth and the spikes on her head, the beak-like-mouth was most likely to make sure she resembles more of an Iguana then a chicken.
