”The Octonauts and the Little Goby” is the fifteenth episode of the Above & Beyond spin-off series' first season.
While the Octonauts are helping the resident creatures of an island in Hawaii that was struck by a tropical storm, the Vegimals are left to escort a goby back to its algae farm after he was washed into the ocean by the storm.
Plot[]
The episode begins in Hawaii, where the Octonauts are attempting to help the animals after a big storm hit. Dashi is looking around through the Octo-ray, Tweak is looking around through the Gup-H, Peso is underwater, and Captain Barnacles, Kwazii, and Shellington are on the land. Meanwhile, the Vegimals are in the Octopod doing their usual business of cleaning when they spot a fish stuck to the glass, asking for help. Tunip brings him in and has the Vegimals sound the Octo-alert. Shellington identifies the fish as a freshwater goby, who would get sick in saltwater, so the Vegimals place him in a bowl with freshwater to keep him healthy. Captain Barnacles promises to be back soon to get the goby back home, but the goby wants to get home now so he can guard his algae farm from other gobies that might try to eat it.
Tunip and the Vegimals arrive with the goby in Hawaii in the Terra-Gup 2. The goby tries to swim the rest of the way, but is pursued by a hungry barracuda, whose fin Peso bandaged earlier. Tunip tries to protect the goby while the other Vegimals alert Kwazii, who arrives to help. Remembering that barracudas like shiny things, Kwazii uses his spyglass to reflect sunlight into the water, distracting the goby into leaving. The goby then states that his home is at the top of a waterfall. Kwazii attempts to help the goby scale the mountain, but the goby reveals he can climb.
Kwazii thinks he discovered a new species and contacts Shellington, but Shellington reveals that the rock-climbing goby isn't exactly a new species. As the goby continues climbing, Kwazii catches up using some climbing claws the Vegimals brought. Suddenly, the goby is being attacked by a bird that Shellington assisted, so Kwazii instructs the goby to hide behind the waterfall while having the Vegimals feed the bird fish biscuits. Eventually, the goby makes it to the top of the waterfall back to his algae farm, safe and sound. Captain Barnacles contacts Kwazii and tells him the cleanup is finished, and they are ready to leave. The episode ends with goby offering Kwazii some algae in gratitude, with Kwazii replying that he'd rather stick to fish biscuits.

- The Vegimals play a vital role in this episode as they helped care for the goby and brought him home in the Terra Gup 2.
