”The Octonauts and the Mysterious Webs” is the twenty-fifth episode of the Above & Beyond spin-off series' fourth season.

When the Reef Base’s power is knocked out, the Octo-Agents lead the charge to restore it.

Plot[]

The episode begins with Min, who is at the Reef Base contacting Selva, who is at a mangrove collecting mangrove saplings on the Octoray for study. As Min loads the saplings on the Octoray, she fails to notice a spider stowing away on board. Selva brings the saplings back to the Reef Base, and Min, Tracker, Bud, and Tunip help her bring the saplings aboard, while the spider sneaks inside. As Selva and Tunip study the saplings, Min and Tracker study the coastline, and Bud studies the saplings' roots, they all find large webs along the Reef Base. Suddenly, the power goes out due to webs in the fusion box, and without power to hold it in place, the Reef Base starts to drift, heading straight for a reef. Bud sounds the Octo-alert.

Captain Barnacles and Shellington answer from the Octopod as the Octo-agents explains the situation. Shellington predicts a spider colony snuck into the Reef Base when Selva was bringing aboard the mangrove saplings. Bud goes in the Gup-D to restore power to the Reef Base while the other Octo-agents search for the culprit. Due to a flashlight projection, Tracker and Selva erroneously think that the spider is very large. As Bud restores power, the others find the spider, but Shellington explains that it is a jumping spider, who introduces himself as Harry, and jumping spiders don't make webs. Harry explains that he jumps long distances, using webs as stringlines. That's when the Octo-agents discover the real culprit: a group of insects called web spinners. They explain that they make long web tunnels inside the mangrove saplings to find food, but are having trouble looking for their nymphs.

Bud calls from the Gup-D, having found the nymphs inside. The nymphs have webbed up the controls, and Bud is spiraling circles. Min has Bud bring the Gup-D to the surface, and she launches Harry onboard. Harry cuts the webs, allowing Bud to regain control of the Gup-D before it smashes into a reef. The episode ends with the Octo-agents preparing to bring Harry and the web spinners, along with their nymphs, back to the mangrove forest.
