Octonauts Wiki

Plot[]

When a floating patch of rubbish endangers a flock of pelicans and other sea creatures, the Octonauts and the pelicans work together to clean it up with the Octo-Bin, even during a feeding frenzy full of Swordfish.

Summary[]

Pelican Emergency[]

The episode begins with Peso curing a sea lobster. He prepares to relax when Captain Barnacles calls him for an emergency. When Peso arrives, he is greeted by a flock of pelicans that have gotten entangled in some kind of garbage. He asks Tweak to clear out her workshop to make an emergency room. When Peso finishes cleaning the pelicans, he asks them how they got like this anyway.

The Dirty Rubbish Patch[]

One of the pelicans, whose name is Ol' Charlie, explains that he and the others were preparing for a fishing trip. They saw a giant trash patch and, mistaking it for a giant school of fish, dive down to eat it. Barnacles and Dashi found the pelicans stuck in the garbage and rescued them. Peso begins wondering why there was so much trash there in the first place. Professor Inkling explains that when people throw their trash like plastic into the ocean, enough will eventually accumulate into a giant patch like the one that fooled the pelicans.

Cleanup Time[]

Dashi finds that the trash patch has already made its way directly over the Octopod, so Barnacles has everyone go outside for cleanup, except for Peso so he can watch over the pelicans. The crew's work is made much harder when four swordfish come along, chasing small fish for food. Peso becomes worried as he tracks the crew's progress. Ol' Charlie and other pelicans offer to help them clean the trash. Everyone rides on the pelicans' backs and they manage to clean up the trash. Peso stays behind to get a plastic bag off a swordfish's nose and Ol' Charlie rescues him before he gets eaten by a whale. The Octonauts say goodbye to the pelicans as they begin a second fishing trip.
