Wendell is a big blue whale who appears in Octonauts Season 5, The Blue Whale Rescue. He is first seen by Kwazii after he takes off in early morning, after hearing a strange sound, Kwazii finds Wendell, and asks him why he feels down and needs help, then he shows Kwazii his injured fluke tail, and replies that he ran into something big the other night, and now he cannot swim very well. Kwazii offers to help, but Wendell sadly thought he could not help because Kwazii was a lot smaller than him, but Kwazii proved he can be more then big to help, but Wendell still declined it.
After calling for help by sounding the Octo-Alert by Kwazii during the situation, the crew arrive in the launch bay very sleepy, they wondered who sounded the octo alert, then Kwazii pops up on the screen and explains and shows them the problem, Professor Inkling and Shellington explain and talk about the plan, what a blue whale is, and the dangers that can happen to Wendell himself. Soon, aftering getting into the gups and getting ready. Meanwhile at Kwazii and Wendell, Wendell is getting very exhausted, and his wounded fluke is getting worse, Kwazii contacts the others to hurry up and arrive on time. For Wendell however, he gives up and starts falling downwards, when the other Octonauts arrive, and rescue him. Kwazii, Dashi, and Shellington drive the gups deep down to find krill so when it feeds Wendell, it can build up his strength. Not long after feeding him, the net seems to be getting loose and begins ripping but not ripped apart yet.
Later Tweak and Peso built a mechanical tail to heal and power Wendell's Wounded Regular Tail, as soon as they strap it on though, when Kwazii and the others return for second krill feeding time, while he eats, Wendell doesn't realize he is not holding still for Peso to tighten up the bolts of the mechanical tail. Soon, the net that he is on rips apart, and then as soon as it is fully ripped apart completely. Wendell begins falling due to his heavy weight, and his wounded tail. The Octonauts begin chasing him down to stop him from falling, while Peso refused to leave Wendell to fix his mechanical bandage tail's bolts. Tweak tries using the Gup-C to tow him back to the surface. But then she looses control, and Peso slips off course and gets stuck in the nets. Wendell begins to give up again, and says his last words before Kwazii comes to the rescue.
Kwazii begins screwing the bolts very tightly, but then it is too late, Wendell and Kwazii fall down into the deep dark trench. The Octonauts are very worried, thinking that they were gone. Then Wendell and Kwazii come out happily. Thankfully everything turned out alright, and Wendell and the Octonauts were glad the mechanical tail was working smoothly. Wendell thanks Kwazii and the Octonauts for helping him, soon he tests out the mechanical tail, as it worked smoothly, he and Kwazii races to the nearest kelp forest while the Octonauts watch behind them racing into the ocean blue.

Wendell appears like other blue whale characters, having a long slender body with a blowhole on top, two flippers on each side to swim, has baleen bristles, and a white underbelly, and a wide tail fluke.
